These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Teacher's Pet application and services (“Service”) provided by Teacher's Pet (“we”, “us”, or “our”). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Teacher's Pet is an AI-powered lesson planning application designed for New Zealand teachers. The Service provides tools to browse the New Zealand Curriculum, generate lesson plans, and organise teaching resources. Features may change over time as we continue to develop and improve the Service.
3. User Accounts
To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful educational purposes. You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or harmful content
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or systematically access the Service
5. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate lesson plans and curriculum content. AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and adapting any AI-generated content before use in the classroom. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of AI-generated content.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, software, and original content (excluding user data and curriculum data from the New Zealand Ministry of Education), is owned by Teacher's Pet and protected by intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any school-specific content you create or upload to the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely to provide the Service to you.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Teacher's Pet shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or NZD $100, whichever is greater.
10. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned downtime where possible.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
